The following links take you to Wi-Fi information pages for key hub airports and select cities in the US.  While some airports provide free Wi-Fi services, most airports maintain contracted services with major wireless carriers such as Boingo and T-Mobile.  These services are subject to change so, fire-up your machine and scan to see if a pay airport has changed to free or free airport to pay Wi-Fi.  Members of various airline clubs usually receive free Wi-Fi in the airport club lounges.  You may also be lucky to find a restaurant/hotel in the airport serving free Wi-Fi if the airport does not have an exclusive carrier agreement. But be aware that most states have laws making it illegal to connect and use the resources of any wireless access point you have not been granted authorization to use.  Most sites in airports will provide a welcome/logon screen including free access points.  So, it is in your best interest to not attach to any wireless connection that does not provide clear authorization for your use.
